Yuzen: a classic Japanese fabric dyeing technique
Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese fabric folding and knotting technique used for wrapping, carrying, and protecting items. This fabric square, often made of cotton or silk, can be used to wrap various items such as gifts, clothes, bottles, or even groceries.
Furoshiki is valued for its versatility and eco-friendliness, as it reduces the use of plastic bags and wrapping paper. In addition to its practical applications, furoshiki is also considered an art form, demonstrating the elegance and simplicity of folding techniques.
Naka Trading is a Japanese company specializing in the production of fabrics with traditional Japanese patterns called wagara.
Founded in Osaka, the company has built a solid reputation by offering high-quality fabrics for clothing, interior decoration, and specific products such as noren (Japanese curtains).
Their yuzen motifs, especially those depicting Mount Fuji, cranes, or waves, are known for their exquisite aesthetics. These designs, often created by famous local artists such as Yoshio Yogans, showcase the richness of Japanese textile art.
All Naka Trading fabrics are produced in the renowned Wakayama factories, a historical company specializing in the textile and dyeing industry, located just a few kilometers from Naka Trading's headquarters. Wakayama is famous throughout Japan for its expertise in fabric dyeing, including highly advanced digital printing technologies.
All this gives Naka fabrics their unique charm!
